Is your child starting out with the math topic of place value? Had enough of worksheets and looking for something a bit more hands-on? Then take a look at this set of self-correcting place value puzzles for 2 digit numbers.
These fun puzzles will help your child build a better understanding of two digit numbers and how they can be broken down into tens and ones.
This resource consists of 20 rectangular puzzles. Each puzzle shows a number represented in four different ways:
- as a numeral (e.g. 23)
- in expanded form (e.g. 20 + 3)
- in base ten blocks
- in writing, as the number of tens and ones (e.g. 2 tens and 3 ones).
These puzzles are self-correcting so the four puzzle pieces for each number will only fit together to make a rectangle if the math is correct.
To use these puzzles, select the numbers you want to practise and cut each of the individual puzzles into their four pieces. (I recommend starting with no more than 10 at first). Next, mix up all the puzzle pieces. Challenge your child to put all the rectangular puzzles back together again.
These puzzles are included in black ink for easy printing (one puzzle per page).
